Grandes Serres

-

Maison Grandes Serres has been established in the heart of Châteauneuf du Pape since 1977.  It works 12 ha of vines in Châteauneuf du Pape, in between its property, tenant farming and purchasing of grapes. Maison Grandes Serres is one of the most important players in Châteauneuf du Pape located in the heart of its appellation.  It sources its grapes from the appellation’s best wine growers.  From these 15 growers, it selects the finest quality grapes to produce various Châteauneuf du Pape wines including “La Cour des Papes”.

It produces its “Les Portes du Castelas” and “Le Jas de Belle” wines from nearly 30 hectares of vineyards in the Côtes du Rhône and Côtes du Rhône Villages appellations.  Some of the vineyards are biodynamically grown with great respect for the terroirs. The wines come from the communes of Plan de Dieu, Séguret and Vaison la Romaine, on plateaux of alpine diluvium and on the slopes of the Dentelles de Montmirail foothills.  The wines are complex, generous and appetizing.  In recent years, Grandes Serres has enjoyed a special partnership with Domaine Varenne with nearly 10 ha of vines in the Gigondas appellation. The vinification cellars for the Rhône Valley Crus, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Beaume-de-Venise are located there.

The wines are vinified in truncated cone-shaped wooden vats and concrete vats.
